    2:00 - 2:50pm Sessions:

    1. A Wild Ride: Investment Strategies for 2022 | ROOM B106

The evolving economic landscape, including higher interest rates, growing inflation, stock market fluctuations, the war in Ukraine, waning pandemic, supply chain disruptions, and more, are impacting investor decision making. How will these influence angel and venture capital investing and what are the implications for early start-up companies seeking funding? Whether you’re a founder or investor, how can you prepare for changes in the economy?

Presented by: Dave Hodge, CFA, CFP®, CDFA®, Partner & Chief Compliance Officer, NPF Investment Advisors

    2. Navigating the Due Diligence Process | ROOM B107

Due diligence is often noted as one of the most important parts of the angel investing process. It is used to measure various risks and will influence the investment decision. Yet, angel investors and founders often find the process ambiguous. How can founders prepare for due diligence? What should investors look for to assess and mitigate risks?

    Moderator: Jeremy Evans-Smith, Founder
Angel Groups’ Due Diligence Team: Abid Ali, MCN; Josh Tooker, Commune Angels

    3:00 - 3:50pm Sessions:

    1. To SAFE or Not to SAFE: Assessing SAFE Notes for Investors and Founders | ROOM B106

Simple Agreements for Future Equity (Safes) have become the fundraising tool of choice for many startups and investors, while some investors have been slower to adopt the instrument. In To Safe or Not to Safe, attendees will explore the evolution of the Y Combinator Safe since it was first introduced in 2013. Additionally, we’ll compare Safes to convertible notes, highlight how companies use Safes to supplement or replace priced rounds, and examine additional Safe terms that investors and companies may negotiate.

Presenter: Terrence Reeves, JD, MBA; Partner, Go with Canvas, PLLC

    2. Portfolio Construction and Deal Flow | ROOM B107

Paul D'Amato, CEO & Managing Director of the Michigan Capital Network, and Dawn Batts, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Commune Angels will share their portfolio strategy. Attendees will get an inside view of what drives investment decisions and be able to ask a few questions too!

    Moderator: Meagan Malm, MCN
